FOX HILL HOOPING

THE organising committee for the Fox Hill Festival Hooping by the Park will hold a final registration meeting 7pm tonight at the Community Centre in Fox Hill for all teams wishing to participate in the tournament, scheduled for Friday, August 3-6.

At the meeting, the rules and regulations for the tournament for under-16, under-19, men's and ladies' teams will be discussed.

All interested teams are urged to have at least one representative present.

NEW PRESIDENT

OF JBLN

THE Board of Directors of the Junior Baseball League of Nassau announces that Jeffrey Walcott has assumed the role of president of the organisation with effect from July 25, 2018.

Walcott, who has been a member and coach in JBLN for nine years, will head the organisation as JBLN prepares to celebrate 30 years of organised baseball for boys and softball for girls in the 2019 season.

Walcott will replace Bertram Murray, who has served JBLN as president since 2014 and is a long-standing member and coach for 15-plus years.

Murray has announced that he will continue to be a part of JBLN but in a reduced capacity, according to commissioner Jeff Albury, who made the official announcement.

Murray demitted office on June 30 and Albury said the league expresses its gratitude for the many years of service that he provided in player development and coaching as well as administration.

JBLN is the oldest organisation in youth baseball having started in 1989 with 30-plus players and now has an enrollment of 420 boys and 80 girls playing in seven age group divisions.

JBLN also announced that preparation is well underway for the 2019 season.

September 10 - online registration begins, but can only be done online at www.jblnbaseball.com

September 15 - 10 am to 2pm - online registration and payments at the fields.

September 22 - 10 to 2pm online registration and payments at the fields.

September 29 - 10 am to 2pm online registration and payments at the fields.

October 6 - 10 am to noon - final registration - space available, noon to 1:30pm tryouts, 1:30pm to 3pm draft selection.

JBLN will start the pre-season on Wednesday, November 7 and will open the 2019 season on Saturday, January 12.
