As a former victim of bullying it was important for Delysia Devonya Radel-Bowe to put her talents to work to create art which denounces discrimination and shows love for all.

The 10th grade student from St John's College expressed this passion in a mural she painted for the ALIV Believe In Best Art Competition, and won big in the process.

As the overall winner of the contest, Delysia was awarded a personal plaque featuring her painting and a trophy from ALIV Brand Manager Anissa Adderley during last Tuesday morning's mass at the school.

Mrs Adderley encouraged students to pay close attention to students like Delysia who possess great talent.

"Use Delysia as an example of what you too can accomplish, at ALIV we Believe in Best and in turn we believe in you and want you to be the best you can be, always," she said.

Delysia told students her idea for the mural stemmed from her passion for equality.

"I realised that in the world there are a lot of people being mistreated because of the colour of their skin, their height and other things, and it really hurts me because I used to be bullied, so I wanted to create something that represented everyone being treated fairly and equally," said the student.

Delysia made it official by signing the mural following the ceremony.

The competition was launched last December and allowed students at all participating schools to form teams of two to four to create a painting that represents what they "Believe In".

The winning art piece will be enlarged and placed on a space of the winner's choosing on the school's campus. ALIV thanked St John's College, Paint Place Marketing Coordinator Jared Cartwright and Paint Place Commercial Sales Representative Eric Adderley.
