Don't film the victims

Re:show some respect

EDITOR, The Tribune.

THOUGH I have personally never been affected, there is a proclivity by some who may be on the scene when persons are injured or mortally wounded in robberies, car accidents or domestic violence, to take pictures and circulate them on social media.

I find myself mortified at the callous, insensitive and almost sub-human mind that is able to distance itself from a tragedy just to be the first to take a picture and circulate it on social media. These depraved individuals have no regard for the dignity of the victim whose picture is taken and give no consideration to the loved ones of the deceased. Can you imagine finding out that a loved one was involved in an accident and died tragically and a bloody picture of the deceased is spread by others on social media, before the next of kin can be advised through proper channels?

This is a despicably low act, by people with low minds, in my opinion, and must have the force of law behind it to stop this intrusion of indecency in such sensitive situations.

Such acts serve as a reminder of how far we have fallen as a people and of how cold-hearted, indifferent, ignorant and detached individuals in our communities are. I really wish such acts would stop!
