A joyful celebration of unsung heroes

The Joy International charitable organisation is hosting its third annual empowerment conference at which community leaders who have made outstanding contributions to society will be honoured.

The special empowerment service will take place tomorrow night at 7pm and closes out with a power luncheon on Saturday at 12pm. Both events take place at British Colonial Hilton.

The Joy International foundation was started by Joy Ann Ferguson out of a desire to the see people informed, enlightened and empowered in their daily lives.

The guest speaker for the Friday evening will be Pastor Cleopatra Williams.

Since the foundation aims to empower individuals in a holistic way, Saturday's power luncheon will feature a presentation by Dr Theodore Turnquest. He will focus on breast and prostate cancer prevention.

During the power luncheon, six unsung heroes will be recognised, including Acting Commissioner Charles Murphy, Marisa Mason Smith, Superintendent Roderick McKenzie, Llewellyn Astwood, Apostle Leon Wallace and Princess Fawkes.
