THE Bahamas Government Departmental Softball Association completed its championship series for men and women at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex over the weekend.

The Invaders won over the Bahamas Public Service Union Strikers in three straight games. The Invaders won game one 18-13, game two 10-4 and game three 7-3.

It took five games for the Interceptors to stop the BTC Lasers. The Lasers won the opener 28-14, the Interceptors took game two 30-24, the Lasers won game three 20-12 and the Lasers won game four 14-12 and the clincher in game five 18-12.

League president Dwaine Stevens said it was a very competitive season and they were quite pleased with the way things turned out.

He commended his executive team for sticking with him as they made a lot of progress, having taken office with nothing in place. He noted that they were able to make some tremendous improvements to the facilities at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex.

Stevens, who will serve as chef de mission, is now preparing to take the national team to the 2018 World Baseball Softball Confederation's Co-Ed Slow Pitch Softball International Cup Tournament in Plant City, Florida, on Wednesday.

The tournament will run from November 15-18.

The team, managed by Derrick Christie and coached by Terrance Culmer and Nathaniel Porter, is comprised of the following players:

Ladies - Melinda Bastian, Tyrice Curry-Davis, Karen Darville, Maryann Fowler, Thela Johnson, Keesha Pratt, Shavette Taylor and LaShanda Bethel.

They will play the third game at 6pm against Great Britain.

On Friday, they will have another triple header with back-to-back games at 11:30pm against Curacao No.1 and Germany at 1pm before they wrap up the round robin at 4pm against Curacao No.2 team.
