IZAAK Bastian continued to carry the flag for Team Bahamas at the Summer Youth Olympic Games with competition in his signature event yesterday.

Bastian finished seventh in heat three of the men's 200m breaststroke in 2:22.37 seconds at the third edition of the games in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

His time finished 23rd overall.

Bastian, a freshman at Florida State University, set the national record in the 200m breast at the CARIFTA Swimming Championships last March in Kingston, Jamaica, with his time of 2:17.78.

He will swim his fourth event of the meet - the 50m breast - today in heat four at 10:22am local time.

The five-member track and field team will also begin competition today.

Shaun Miller Jr will be up first, competing in stage one of the high jump at 2pm. The quatermilers will be the first athletes for Team Bahamas on the track with Megan Moss in heat three of the women's event at 4:04pm and Raymond Oriakhi in heat three of the men's event at 5:34pm.

Adrian Curry will compete in the men's 100m tomorrow and Matthew Thompson will close out the competition Saturday, October 13 in the men's 400m hurdles. The Bahamas has captured at least one medal at each edition of the Summer Youth Olympic Games thus far.

In 2010, the nine-member team returned with one silver medal won by Tynia Gaither in the 200m.

In 2014, Joanna Evans captured the Bahamas' first swimming medal at the games with bronze in the 800m free and Henri Delauze won bronze on the track in the 400m.
