THE weekend of NCAA football at the Division I and Division II levels featured several Bahamian players on the field.

Michael Strachan continues to post impressive individual numbers for the UC Charleston Golden Cougars, Chris Ferguson and the Cincinnati Bearcats were back on the winning track and Mavin Saunders' Kansas Jayhawks got their first win since week three.

Strachan had his fifth 100-yard receiving game of the year for the Golden Cougars with a season high eight receptions for 141 yards and one touchdown in a 17-10 loss to Notre Dame College.

The sophomore receiver has caught at least one touchdown in four consecutive games and recorded 100-yard outings in three of his last four.

Following a scoreless first half, the Golden Eagles got on the board first with a field goal, only to have Notre Dame score the game's first touchdown on the next possession. UC quarterback Mason Olszewski connected with Strachan on a 37-yard touchdown pass to cap an eight play, 80-yard drive.

Notre Dame ended the fourth with 10 unanswered points.

With the win, Notre Dame remained undefeated at 9-0 and clinched the Mountain East Conference championship. The Golden Cougars fell to 5-4.

Strachan leads the conference in receiving yards, average yards per game (96.4) and is ninth in both receptions and touchdowns.

Ferguson and the Bearcats bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 26-20 overtime win over the SMU Mustangs.

It was the second consecutive overtime game for the Bearcats following last week's 24-17 loss to Temple.

With the loss, the Bearcats fell out of the top 25 at 7-1 on the season and are 4-1 on the road, equalling the most road wins a since 2014.

Their 125 rushing yards were a season low and the Bearcats didn't score a rushing touchdown for the first time this season.

The Bearcats will host three of their last four regular season games. Their only road game will be against conference leading No.9 ranked and undefeated UCF on November 17.

Mavin Saunders and the Kansas Jayhawks edged the TCU Horned Frogs for their first conference win of the season in the Big 12.

A late defensive turnover sealed the 27-26 win Saturday. Saunders has totalled three receptions for 28 yards, one touchdown and one two-point conversion this season.
