Water Corp in paperless push

The Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC) is aiming to go paperless through the elimination of all manual business processes, its executive chairman has announced.

Adrian Gibson, also MP for Long Island, said the state-owned water supplier is implementing a digital business strategy that is expected to improve operational efficiency and provide a platform that allows customers and suppliers to interact more easily with the utility.

“This is a move to a more efficient organisation, and means that we are embracing a new approach to normal ways of doing business for our staff as well as our customers,” said Mr Gibson.

Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, Mr Gibson confirmed that the Corporation aims to eliminate manual, paper-driven processes and will undertake a review of all its business processes and systems.

It expects to launch a procurement portal by May 1, which will allow suppliers to manage their vendor accounts and have access to a digital, transparent bidding and procurement process.

The Water and Sewerage Corporation currently offers subscribers a customer portal, online account review and bill payment; automatic receipt of bills via e-notification system; IBR Pay by Phone; website upgrade that includes e-forms for jobs; new connections; and its mobile app.

WSC mobile is now available for download at Google Play and Apple stores. A version is available for Windows users. The app is at https://wscmobile.me

Customers can use their smart phones to pay, review bills and submit complaints. The app is functional in all the islands where the Corporation provides service.
