AN employee at the Bahamas Agriculture and Marine Science Institute (BAMSI) has been suspended as police investigate a claim he groped a co-worker.

BAMSI chairman Tennyson Wells confirmed to The Tribune the incident was reported sometime in February, but denied social media reports of a rape at the Andros facility.

“I don’t think it was anything that rises to the level of rape,” Mr Wells said.

“I know a lady made a complaint that somebody groped her. She made a complaint to human resources and to police and we suspended the person.

“So human resources followed up with police because we want to know what action to take. We already took some action, but we’re just waiting on that investigation to know what our next step is.”
