A BAHAMIAN non-profit is aiming to prepare inner city youth for the workforce through leveraging its connections in an effort to help individuals get their “foot in the door”.

Lucas Metropulos, Lend A Hand Bahamas chairman told Tribune Business: “There are a lot of the hotels and other companies that do support us. We talk to them pretty extensively. We tell them that we can send them some really great employees. We have a workforce prep programme which kind of feeds into the entrepreneurial and computer science programme we have.”

He added: “Working with some of our volunteers and donors, we allow them to come in and host workshops and talk to the kids. We’re really trying to get the kids ready, mostly for entry level jobs whether it be for maybe Baha Mar, Atlantis or some data entry type role. It’s really about trying to help the young people get their foot in the door.”

Lend A Hand Bahamas, which was incorporated in 2014 and based in the Bain and Grants Town commuity, recently held an entrepreneurial pitch event at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort.
