SYDNEY Clarke had a double dose of victory yesterday as she survived in the women’s singles and doubles, while Donte Armbrister made it in the men’s doubles at the International Tennis Federation’s Trinidad Summer Bowl.

In the women’s singles semi-finals in Trinidad & Tobago, Clarke, playing as the top seeded player, earned a hard fought 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7) win over No.3 Audrey Moutama from France.

Clarke will now face No.4 seed Candice Brace of Canada, who won 6-4, 7-5 over No.7 seed Jade Marie from France, in today’s final. Clarke advanced to the semi-final with a 6-0, 6-2 win over her Barbados friend and former doubles partner Tangia Riley-Codrington. In the second round, Clarke defeated American Morgan McCarthy 6-4, 6-1.

Clarke got a bye in the first round.

Also yesterday in the women’s doubles semi-finals, Clarke and her American partner Morgan McCarthy played No.1 seed Sifa Butcher from the USA and Gabrielle Leslie from Barbados.

They won 6-4, 5-7, 10-6 to get into the final today when they take on the French team of Jade Marie and Audrey Moutama.

Marie and Moutama, the No.2 seeds, won their semi-final match yesterday as well 7-5, 6-4 over the Barbados No.3 duo of Hannah Chambers and Chloe Weekes.

Clarke and Morgan reached the semi-final with a 6-0, 6-0 whitewashing of Riley-Codrington and her Barbados partner Sanaa Hewitt, the No.4 seed.

Clarke and Morgan got out of the first round with a 6-0, 6-0 decision as well over the Trinidad & Tobago duo of Aralia Blackman and Kryshelle Cudjoe.

In their men’s doubles semi-finals, Donte Armbrister and Freddie Ridout from Great Britain, the No.3 seed, stunned top seeds Christian Kuehne from Switzerland and Maxime Mareschal-Hay from Canada 6-4, 5-7, 11-9. Armbrister and Ridout will go on to face No.4 seeds Alexandru Bucurescu of Romania and Oscar Lucides of Guadeloupe, who won 3-6, 7-5, 12-10 over Americans Adam Dun and Aidan Kim.

Armbrister and Ridout pulled off a 6-0, 6-1 win over the combo of Dustan Leslie from Trinidad & Tobago and Grant Lumkong from the United States in the quarter-final.

In the first round, Armbrister and Ridout advanced with a 6-1, 6-3 decision over the Trinidad & Tobago duo of Sebastian Byng and Nicholas Ready.

Armbrister, seeded No.4 in the men’s singles, advanced to the quarter-final where he was ousted 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 over Aidan Kim from the USA.

He won his second-round match 6-3, 6-3 over Grant Lumkong from the USA and he came out of the first round with a 6-2, 6-4 win over American Farzan Amiri.
