THE Chances Mighty Mitts and the University of the Bahamas Mingoes took advantage of their hapless opponents, Renegades and Strikers, as the New Providence Softball Association continued its regular season action.

On Saturday night at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex, the Mighty Mitts blasted the cellar dwelling Renegades 21-4 in the feature contest to move a half game ahead of the Commando Security Truckers for second place.

In the ladies’ opener, the Mingoes routed the last place Strikers 19-4 as they kept their playoff hopes alive in fourth place ahead of the struggling Johnson’s Lady Truckers.

Renegades 4

Centre fielder Moses Kerr enjoyed a perfect 3-for-3 night at the plate, drove in five runs and scored four times to pace Chances, who improved their win-loss record to 7-6.

First baseman Chris McPhee was 3-for-4 with three RBI and as many runs scored to help out.

Kenny Cary got the win on the mound and Garrome Hanna was tagged with the loss.

The youthful Renegades, still winless in 12 games, got a 1-for-2 outing with a RBI and a run scored each from Marcelo Bain, Tomeko Fowler and Christoff Jennings.

Mingoes 19,

Strikers 4

Second sacker Tonica Gardiner was one of three players with a perfect 2-for-2 night at the plate as the University of the Bahamas pushed their record to 4-8.

Gardiner added two RBI and scored three times, while third sacker Eltisha Major and pitcher Cara Dames scored three and two runs respectively in their 2-for-2 productions. Catcher Kaneisha Kelly helped out with a 2-for-3 night with a RBI and three runs scored.

Dames was the winning pitcher and D’Shay Darling got tagged with the loss.

Right fielder Debbie Burrows went 1-for-1 with a run scored, second sacker Oliver Dorsette was 1-for-2 with a run scored and Amy Cartwright was 1-for-2 with a RBI for the Strikers, who are 0-12.
