THE 27th annual AID Clay Court Championships concluded on Sunday evening at the Gym Tennis Club in Winton Meadows with the presentation of trophies and cash awards to all finalists.

This was preceded by the final matches in which Shannon Francis defeated Jon Isaacs in the Men’s Open Singles and Alejandro Mesples and Otmar Raufer squeaked past defending champions, Owen Forbes and Larry Rolle in the men’s Jr. Vets doubles final.

Seven divisions were contested during the two week tournament, resulting in the following champions being crowned:

Boys Under-14 singles – Virgile Homere

Ladies Jr. Vets singles – Richette Percentie

Men’s Open singles – Shannon Francis

Men’s Open doubles – Shannon Francis & Philip Major Jr.

Men’s Jr. Vets singles – Devlin Fisher

Men’s Jr. Vets doubles – Alejandro Mesples & Otmar Raufer

Mixed doubles – Devlin Fisher & Valorie Rees

Attractive crystal trophies and cash prizes were presented to all finalists by Valorie Rees, president of the host Gym Tennis Club. Tournament Referee, Mickey Williams, thanked AID for its ongoing and generous sponsorship of the tournament.
