What in the world is going on at Bahamas Customs!
With only a few weeks left before Christmas, Bahamian merchants are seeing their opportunities for badly needed Christmas sales slipping away because of holdups with Customs not clearing their Christmas inventory in a timely manner.
Is this because of added pressure from the hurricane, the malfunction of the new and much touted Click2Clear system or have they reverted to their time-honored habit of shaking down the merchant community for additional Christmas cheer?
With the local economy in such a precarious state, every hour, every day and every sale leading up to Christmas is of vital importance to the majority, if not all, of Bahamian retailers.
This practice of holding businesses for ransom by Bahamas Customs must end. Hoping and praying for a few crumbs.
