ROBERT Joseph seemingly could not miss from behind the arc for the University of the Bahamas Mingoes against the Wolverines Saturday night in New Providence Basketball Association action.

Joseph hit eight three-pointers en route to a game high 32 points to lead the Mingoes to the 98-75 win at the AF Adderley Gymnasium.

Joseph tied his career-high production with the 32-point performance as well. He scored 32 points against the Rockets earlier this season. This however was his largest number of three-pointers in a game.

“We knew we needed to make a statement after our winning streak was broken by The Giants,” he said.

“The team came out a bit slow but when we got going we could not be stopped. We hope to keep this energy for the rest of the season.”

Team captain Kemsy Sylvestre had a spectacular night as well with 24 points and 14 boards. Ujamaa Johnson contributed 16 points and Christoph McKenzie put up 10 for the Mingoes in the win.

The Mingoes now sport a 6-1 record to lead the Vince Ferguson Division in the NPBA. The Wolverines drop to 3-5.

Selwyn McKenzie scored 20 points to go along with nine rebounds in the loss for the Wolverines. Charaz LaFleur put up 16 and Demetri Mackey 10.

The Wolverines led early by two in the opening few minutes and was only able to get back in the game in the third quarter off a three-pointer from Mackey to go up 55-54 with 5:02 to go in the quarter. The Mingoes would then go on a 8-0 run and eventually end the quarter up 65-69.

In the fourth, the Mingoes could not be stopped.

Joseph hit four of his eight three-pointers in that quarter and the Mingoes led by as much as 28 - coincidentally off a Joseph three-pointer to go up 98-70 with 2:23 to go in the game.

The Mingoes would let the Wolverines score a few layups but at that point the game was gone.

Mingoes assistant head coach Lavar Johnson said the squad started slow but he wasn’t too worried in the game.
