Fourth Joan Thompson lecture

THE fourth annual Joan Thompson Memorial Freedom Lecture featuring Dr Richard Ebeling, Ph.,D. will be held on Friday, March 1, at Choices Restaurant, University of The Bahamas.

Dr Ebeling‘s topic will be “Why the global economy needs more freedom and less government.”

Economic globalisation, he contends, has successfully raised billions of people out of poverty by creating opportunities for employment, production and trading worldwide. The key to this success has been relatively free markets that have unleashed incentives for work, savings and investment through personal liberty and freedom of choice. But the current anti-globalization sentiments and government policies threaten to slow down and possibly reverse the trend toward growing prosperity for all of humanity.

“Tariff wars, increased government regulations and intensified immigration barriers will hinder the continued betterment of everyone, especially the poorest in the world.”
