CITIZENS for a Better Bahamas confirmed yesterday the Royal Bahamas Police Force was contacted about a recent threat of harm against a member of the organisation.
In a press statement released yesterday, CBB did not name the member, but said the threat was received on Sunday morning.
Despite the incident, CBB said its membership will remain resolute in educating the community on issues of transparency and accountability.
“CBB calls on our civil society partners and members of the wider community for their strong support in order to show a few cowardly individuals, that a new day has dawned in The Bahamas and we will stand united in courage for the values of transparency, integrity and accountability in all areas of our society,” CBB said yesterday.
Most recently the group lobbied for changes to the proposed Non-Profit Organisations Bill, which is now stalled in the Senate, and also criticised the country’s “stagnant” fight against corruption.
