A 38-year-old Haitian man yesterday denied allegations that last month he struck and killed another man with a car he did not have permission to drive.

Salvales Fleurius, of Farrington Road, denied hitting and killing Michael Noelus with Patrick Sturrup’s car on January 26 in the Minnie Street area.

Fleurius also denied fraudulently using a licence plate at the time of the incident. However, he admitted to driving the car while not covered against third party risk.

For pleading guilty to that charge, he was fined $250 or otherwise will face 14 days in prison.

Concerning his guilty pleas for the other counts, Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans adjourned the matter to April 5 for trial.

Bail was denied and he was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services (BDCS) in the interim.

He has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
