Strong start at Fed Cup

Day one for Team Bahamas at the Junior Fed Cup in El Salvador was filled with a lot of excitement on Monday.

Playing for the Bahamas in singles competition were Peyton Anderson and Gabrielle Simms. At the end of singles action The Bahamas would be tied 1 all with the top seed in pool D, Trinidad and Tobago.

Gabrielle Simms fought hard in a 3 setter but lost 1-6, 6-2, 3-6 and Peyton Anderson won 7-6 (2) 3-6, 6-4 in a thriller of a match.

Peyton and Gabby teamed up for doubles but lost in a close and competitive 3 setter 6-4, 3-6, 7-10.

Team Bahamas consisting of Peyton Anderson, Gabrielle Simms and Perjae Major will continue to compete for the opportunity to make the main draw competition.

The team is captained by coach Marion Bain.

The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association is proud of the match play by the ladies and wishes the team much success as the tournament progresses.
