NPBA triple header: Giants and UB Mingoes in win column

THE New Providence Basketball Association played a triple header at the CI Gibson Gymnasium on Saturday.

Your Essential Store Giants knocked off the Caro Contractors Resistance 92-74, the Commonwealth Bank Giants routed the Pros 96-56 and the University of the Bahamas Mingoes got by the Caro Contractors Resistance 64-60. Here’s a summary:

Giants 92, Resistance 74

Adrian Thompson scored 17 points with 11 rebounds and two assists and Cameron Strachan came off the bench and also netted 17 points with nine rebounds and two block shots to pace Your Essential Store to victory.

Brandon Strachan added 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists, Ira Farrington also came off the bench with 13 points, 21 rebounds and Cormardo Seymour chipped in with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Kamal Murphy paced the losers with a game high 20 points, nine rebounds, eight steals and four assists. Antonio Hanna contributed 16 points, six rebounds and three assists and Shaquille Outten came off the bench with 15 points, four rebounds, four blocks and two steals.

Giants 96, Pros 56

Jackson Jacob came off the bench and canned a game high 34 points with seven rebounds and two assists to lead the charge for Commonwealth Bank.

Gamaliel Rose, also off the bench, pumped in 23 points with 14 rebounds and four assists. Tehran Cox had 15 points, six rebounds and six assists and Michael Bain added eight points.

In a losing effort, Judino Wilson had 15 points, six rebounds, Ron Marshall had 13 points and three rebounds, Colton Albury had 11 points, four assists and three rebounds and Chico Francis had seven points and eight rebounds.

Mingoes 64, Resistance 74

Antwan Bevans led four of the five University of the Bahamas starters in double figures with 16 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in their win.

Justin Smith and Romero Cornish both had 14 points, four rebounds and two assists, while Smith added four steals. Kemsy Sylvester was held to 13 points with eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Christoff McKenzie chipped in with six points.

For Caro Contractors, Chrisoff Stuart had a game high 17 points and 11 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block, Dominique Fernander had 12 points and five rebounds and both Kronoff Dean and Donathan Johnson had eight points. Anthony Whylly came off the bench with seven points and six rebounds.

The NPBA is slated to continue its regular season tonight at the CI Gibson Gymnasium with a double header. In the 7pm opener, the Caro Contractors Titans face the Aliv Bucket and in the feature contest, the Commonwealth Bank Giants take on the Leno Regulators.
