NEIGHBOURS thwarted an attempted armed robbery Monday morning.

While at home on Fire Trail Road, a woman was approached by an armed man who demanded cash sometime around 9am.

According to police, neighbours heard the woman’s screams and came to her assistance, apprehending the man until officers arrived.

The man is expected to be formally charged before a Magistrate later this week, according to police, who said there were no injuries.

Police are also investigating an armed robbery in front of a store on Blue Hill Road north early yesterday morning.

According to reports, a man was standing in front of the business establishment when he was approached by an armed man shortly after 2:48am.

The armed man robbed him of cash and a chain before escaping in a grey coloured four-door vehicle, police said.

Meanwhile in Grand Bahama, police found and removed two firearms from an abandoned building in the Lewis Yard area on Monday.

ASP Terecita Pinder reported that officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit, acting on information, went to a building where they discovered a black 9mm pistol with one magazine and a black and silver .38 revolver.

She said no arrest was made in the matter.

Investigations into all matters are continuing.
