Food for thought

EDITOR, The Tribune

Kindly afford me space in your respected columns to comment on what seems a preferred, politically perverse and pervasive public lie relative to our inability to achieve some semblance of self-sufficiency in national food production.

For decades now successive governments have highlighted undaunted progress for their agricultural programme. Perhaps periodic audits were taken, waved through without a vote or hard consideration and the longevity of this agricultural farce has become its own justification.

When will the national agricultural programme yield final fruits on which the truly trusting Bahamian people may depend?
