THE Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Legal Affairs has announced the appointment of attorney E Sally-Ann Lockhart-Pratt to the position of registrar general.

In a press release issued yesterday, officials noted that Mrs Lockhart-Pratt would be assuming the mantle of leadership at an exciting time, citing the government’s continued push to enhance the quality and delivery of service as it seeks to improve the ease of doing business in The Bahamas.

As registrar general, Mrs Lockhart-Pratt is expected to co-ordinate and manage the daily operations of all sections of the Registrar General’s Department by directing the workflow and task assignments to staff in the various units, inclusive of administration, accounts and central registry.

Moreover, she will also have oversight of non-profit companies and friendly societies; intellectual properties; registration of births, deaths, marriages and maritime marriages; certifications; deeds and documents; companies inclusive of electronic filings; data management; and scanning and management information systems.

According to the release, Mrs Lockhart-Pratt’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Banking and International Finance, as well as a Master of Arts in Legal Studies.

Mrs Lockhart-Pratt was called to both the English and the Bahamas Bar on July 24, 2008 and September 26, 2008 respectively. Mrs Lockhart-Pratt replaces Acting Registrar General Deirdre Clarke-Maycock.
