TWO men were charged with armed robbery in the Freeport Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Andy Taylor, 24, and Shaquan Ewing, 23, both of Freeport, appeared before Magistrate Charlton Smith.

It is alleged that on January 8, the two men, while armed with a handgun, robbed Jabars Restaurant and Bar of $130 cash and stole a green Gucci handbag containing a leather wallet, white Apple iPhone and a Bahamian passport, together valued at $1,971, which was the property of Fernandez Floret.

Taylor and Ewing were not represented by counsel during their arraignment. They were not required to enter a plea to the armed robbery charge.

Magistrate Smith said they were denied bail but informed them that they could apply to the Supreme Court for bail.

They were remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until April 11, when they are expected to appear in Court One before Deputy Chief Magistrate Debbye Ferguson.
