Godfrey makes immediate impact for Bearcats

GODFREY Rolle has had a seamless transition to NCAA Division II basketball and has been an immediate impact player for the Southwest Baptist University Bearcats.

The junior guard and Abaco native has averaged 10.4 points on 44 per cent shooting from the field, 42 per cent from three-point range and 78 per cent from the free throw line while grabbing 2.9 rebounds and dishing 1.7 assists per game.

The Bearcats are just over .500 at 8-7 on the season but are in the midst of a three-game losing streak. He received starts in 13 of the Bearcats’ 15 games and posted season highs in scoring with 16 points against William Jewell and Williams Baptist.

Rolle scored 10 points recently in a 73-68 loss to Missouri Southern State. Results of last night’s game against Lindenwood were unavailable up to press time.

Southwest Baptist University is a NCAA Division II institution that competes in the MIAA conference, which is regarded as one of the best and most competitive conferences in all of Division II. The SBU Men’s Basketball team finished up the 2017-18 season with a 12-17 (6-13 MIAA) record.

Rolle transferred to SBC following a successful two-year stint for the North Platte Community College Knights.

As a sophomore he averaged 19.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. In his freshman season he averaged 13.2 points and 3.7 rebounds per game on 53 per cent shooting from the field and 45 per cent from three-point range.

Following his tenure with the Agape Christian Eagles in Abaco, Rolle matriculated to the Sunrise Christian Academy Buffaloes in Kansas alongside Radshad Davis and Charles Bain who both currently play at the Division I level with the UTA Mavericks and Robert Morris Colonials respectively.
