The Caribbean Bottling Company (CBC) has launched a new environmentally-friendly bottle for its Dasani mineral water range.

The new, green-capped Dasani PlantBottle will replace the brand’s traditional bottle product. The 12 ounce and 20 ounce Dasani packages will also be the first-ever, fully recyclable plastic beverage bottles made partially from plants. The bottle looks and functions just like traditional plastic, but imposes a lighter footprint on the planet and its resources.

“We all have to do our part to preserve the environment,” said Nikia Wells, Caribbean Bottling Company’s marketing and communications manager. “The introduction of the Dasani Plant Bottle is just one of many projects and initiatives that we support in an effort to reduce our environmental footprint and recycle resources whenever possible.

“In addition to our water conservation efforts, Caribbean Bottling Company has been recycling our wooden pallets and scrap cardboard for several years now. We also have recycling bins at our facilities, and we are dedicated to taking part in events and activities that can encourage our fellow Bahamians to make small changes that can greatly impact our environment.

The Bahamian drinks manufacturer and distributor has implemented several recycling and waste reduction programmes in recent years. PlantBottle packaging is intended to ultimately reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and will increase the use of renewable materials.

To date, more than 35 billion PlantBottle packages have been distributed in nearly 40 countries. The technology has enabled Caribbean Bottling Company and other international Coca-Cola beverage bottlers to minimise carbon dioxide emissions and significantly reduce the usage of petroleum products.

In early 2018, Coca-Cola announced its global ambition to recycle all of its packaging by 2030. As the official bottler of Coca-Cola beverages in The Bahamas, the Caribbean Bottling Company will continue to look for new and innovative ways to make that goal a reality.

Besides Coca-Cola, Caribbean Bottling Company also offers Schweppes, Fanta, Sprite, Barq’s Root Beer, Dr Pepper, Goombay Punch, Barritt’s Ginger Beer, Canada Dry, Vitamin Water, Dasani, Powerade, Minute Maid, Monster and Flavorful Juices.
