A 25-year-old Freeport man was charged with murder in the Freeport Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Jakeel Beckford, of Malibu Reef, Freeport, appeared in Court Two before Magistrate Charlton Smith.

It is alleged that sometime in 2017, the accused killed Kim Flowers, of Murphy Town, Abaco.

He was not required to enter a plea to the murder charge, and was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until April 9 for a preliminary inquiry.

In other court news, a man was charged with possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition in Freeport yesterday.

Tony Jamal Smith, who goes by the aliases Jamal Penn and “Fool” of Kelly Lane, New Providence and Tarry Town, Grand Bahama, appeared in Court One before Deputy Chief Magistrate Debbye Ferguson.

Smith was not represented by counsel and pleaded not guilty to the charges. The matter was adjourned to March 28. He too was remanded to the BDCS in New Providence.
