FNM puts spotlight on women

THE Free National Movement held a “Women in Governance Summit” at its headquarters on the weekend. Speakers included Dame Janet Bostwick, who opened the summit on Saturday, while former Court of Appeal president Dame Joan Sawyer gave a presentation on parliamentary procedure and the Westminster system.

Dame Joan also took part in a panel discussion on how the party can support more women to enter politics with other panellists Sandra Fowler, chair of the FNM’s North Andros/Berry Island branch; Royanne Williams, Torchbearers Youth Association (TYA) president, Grand Bahama and Latice Knowles Penn, TYA second vice-president.

Day two of the summit was closed by the prime minister’s wife, Patricia Minnis.
