Under the theme “Unshakable Faith”, two Bahamian ministries will soon come together to host a praise and worship concert “to witness a mighty move of God”.

Organised by Pastor Derek Farrington Ministries (DFM) in conjunction with Secret Place Ministries, the event is called “The Encounter” and will kick off with a youth and young adult conference to take place at the Meliá Nassau Beach on Tuesday, August 6. The conference will be held nightly at 7.30pm until Thursday, August 8. It will end with the Praise and Worship Concert Friday, August 9, at 7.30pm.

Caitlin Brown of DFM told Tribune Religion the event is in its second year now and it continues grow. She said Pastor Derek Farrington has a calling to help impact the lives of young people in the country.

“We are living in times now where it seems that our young people are under attack. The theme itself, ‘Unshakable Faith’, reminds our young people that we walk not by sight, but we walk by faith. They should be encouraged to know that whatever obstacle they might face in life, they have been anointed to walk victorious,” said Ms Brown.

The conference was initially held in Freeport, Grand Bahama last year under the theme “Restoring Purpose”. Ms Brown said the idea of “The Encounter” is to take the event throughout the islands of the Bahamas. She said the team at DFM believes God will show up and show off at the conference, and they are all excited to see young people get saved and baptised in Jesus’ name.

“We are delighted to be hosting this event because we certainly believe that we are impacting the lives of young people. We will have talented young people from all over the islands displaying their God-given talents. We believe that if we can get our young people filled with the Holy Spirit, then we know that their lives will never be the same. The benefactors will know that if any man be in Christ, he or she is a new creature,” said Ms Brown.

What she is looking forward to most is hearing the testimonies of the young people, and to also hear how they have experienced the presence of God at the conference.
