Tourism tie-up produces 678k extra room nights

The Ministry of Tourism is attributing a 678,310 increase in group meeting room nights to its partnership with Cvent, an events and hospitality management technology company.

The first year of their tie-up saw group bookings for meetings increase by nine percent, producing the surge in room nights and building “a strong pipeline”, as meeting planner contacts grew by 32 percent.

The Bahamas has also made Cvent’s annual list of top destinations for meetings and events, showcasing the destination to thousands of its subscribers.

Joy Jibrilu, the Ministry of Tourism’s director-general, said: “When we look at the number of groups coming to The Bahamas over the last year we are just blown away. But we cannot - and will not - rest on our laurels. We will continue to push the message that we are the premier destination for meetings and events.”

Cvent provides destinations and hoteliers with an integrated platform, enabling clients to increase group business demand through targeted advertising while improving conversion through demand management and business intelligence solutions.

The company’s solutions aim to make the event management value chain more efficient, and have enabled clients worldwide to manage hundreds of thousands of meetings and events

Cvent now intends to expand its business with The Bahamas through a digital marketing campaign in 2019-2020, which will feature destination content, an e-newsletter, blogs and a face-to-face networking conference.
