Police hunt suspects after series of armed robberies

POLICE on New Providence and Grand Bahama are searching for the suspects behind several armed robberies that occurred on Tuesday.

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 8pm a man was in the parking lot of a food store in the western part of New Providence, when he was approached by three men, one armed with a sharp instrument, who robbed him of cash. He and passersby held onto and detained one of the men while the other two got into a red vehicle and sped away.

A 21-year-old resident of Elizabeth Estate is in police custody and is assisting with this investigation.

In a second incident, shortly after 10pm a woman was standing outside a residence on Pine Yard Road when she was approached by an armed man who robbed her of her handbag before running away.

In the third incident, according to reports, shortly after 11pm a woman was sitting in her vehicle in the area of Yamacraw Beach when she was approached by three armed men who robbed her of her 2008 silver Honda Fit, licence number AR74848, before speeding away.

And on Grand Bahama, a business was robbed at gunpoint in Freeport late Tuesday evening.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Terecita Pinder reported that the incident occurred shortly before 11pm when a masked gunman entered a business on the Mall Drive, robbing the cashier of an undetermined amount of cash.
