THE fourth annual Stingers Elite Basketball Camp will be highlighted by an appearance from Orlando Magic star Jonathan Isaac.

Isaac is expected to make an appearance at the camp today at the St George’s Gymnasium in Freeport, Grand Bahama.

Camp Director Bonnie Basden has fostered the relationship with Isaac through her membership in Jump Ministries Global Church in Orlando, Florida.

“It’s certainly a pleasure to have him come and visit our camp. What is especially important to us is that he is a born again Christian and a member of Jump Ministries in Orlando, Florida, a church we attend whenever I take the boys on our basketball trips to Florida,” Basden said.

“To have a young basketball player that puts God first, and living the life of a star NBA player, going through what he goes through is tremendous for our campers. He doesn’t look for any recognition, he’s a humble young man with a strong love for the Lord and shows people that you can be saved, be a Christian and live in the limelight through Christ. It’s a pleasure to have him impart some inspiring words and share his experience with the campers.”

Basden said through worship, her Sunland Stingers have also been guests of Isaac to Orlando Magic home games. “Dr Duron Hepburn has been very instrumental over the years of making sure every time I travel to Orlando with the boys to take care of us by lunches, dinners and assisting me in which ever way he can. We were able to meet a number of influential persons just by attending his church. We also met the head coach of Stetson University through his church,” Basden said.

“I am truly grateful for his interest in my ministry and his love and financial blessings he has poured into us. Whenever he visits the Bahamas my house is always his first stop. I want to sincerely thank him for all of the love and support over the years and for making this visit with Jonathan Isaac happen.”

The Magic drafted the 6’10 Isaac sixth overall in 2017. He appeared in just 27 games as a rookie due to injury issues. In year two, he appeared in 75, including 64 starts. In just over 26 minutes per game he averaged 9.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.3 blocks.
