LYNFORD Miller, president of the Bahamas Golf Federation, is pleased to announce that Sandals Resorts has agreed to become the title sponsor for the BGF’s next tournament.
Formerly the Great Exuma Classic, the event has been rebranded as the Sandals Classic and will once again be held at the Greg Norman-designed Sandals Emerald Bay golf course at 10:30am on Saturday July 13.
This will allow golfers from Nassau to fly down in the morning and return the same day.
President Miller said the BGF is very pleased to joint venture with Sandals to assist with the development of golf on the island of Exuma.
Jeremy Mutton, general manager of Sandals Bahamas, said that Sandals is happy to sponsor this event and bring some of the top Bahamian golfers to play with local golfers in a competitive event on one of the best courses in the Bahamas. He said that the resort is always willing to give back to the community. The tournament is an individual medal play event and prizes will be awarded to gross and net winners, closest to the pin and longest drive.
The event is expected to attract golfers from Nassau, Grand Bahama and Abaco. It is also a part of the Sands Beer Cup series.
Richard Gibson Sr is the head pro at Emerald Bay and is looking forward to hosting this tournament on behalf of the BGF.
