WHEN Bahamian Sons Promotions returns to the Bahamas in April for its second edition of ‘Back Yard Rumble,’ heavyweight Sherman ‘The Tank’ Williams will headline the exciting professional boxing card.

Williams, who started the promotional group with his wife Kimberly Williams, will take on Orlando Antonia ‘Knockout’ Farias of Argentina in the 12-round main event for the vacant Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO) Inter-Continental heavyweight title.

At 46, Williams is a journeyman from Grand Bahama who has compiled a 41-15-2 win-loss-draw record with one no contest and 21 knockouts. Farias, at 45, is 32-18 with 20 knockouts.

While Williams has only suffered one knockout at the hands of Robert Davis on May 20, 1999 at the Grand Casino in Tunica, Farias has been knocked out 18 times, including his last two losses to Tahir Kahrovic on March 10, 20118 and to Maroy Sadiki on April 7, last year as well for the vacant UBO International cruiserweight title.

With both fighters almost evenly matched, Kimberly Williams said Bahamian Sons Promotions intends to ensure that they bring the best live televised professional boxing to the Bahamas.

“Bahamian Sons Promotions’ mission is to provide competitive boxing featuring some of the best in the sport,” said Kimberly Williams, the president of the promotional group based out of Vero Beach, Florida.

“We want to create a competitive platform that will allow young Bahamian fighters an opportunity to turn pro in a fair and balanced forum, while attracting other big names of the fight game to the Bahamas.”

One of the highlights on the card will be 24-year-old Amron ‘Sandman’ Sands, who opened the year with a first round stoppage of Hector Hodge on February 16 in St Petersburg, Florida to improve his one-year pro record to 8-0.

Popular Florida heavyweight Chris Vendola, who is 10-6 with 10 KOs) and Iranian American welterweight Shayan Shahab, who is 3-0, are also expected to be featured on the undercard.

A number of boxers from the Strikers Boxing Club, joined by Sands, who are trained by Ronn Rodgers, will be appearing on the card.

The list includes Israel Johnson, DeAngelo Swaby, Chino Sherman and Kendrick Stewart, who are all expected to be make their pro debut.

When Bahamian Sons Promotions hosted its initial ‘Back Yard Rumble’ in Grand Bahama last year, Tyrone Oliver and Justin Sawyer turned pro.
