Atlantic Medical hosts 21st annual Fun Run for cancer and diabetes

In a bid to encourage Bahamians to adopt healthier lifestyles, Atlantic Medical Insurance (AMI) will host its 21st Annual Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, April 13. AMI will donate all proceeds to the Cancer Society of the Bahamas and the Bahamas Diabetic Association.

“We have been giving back to these two organisations over the years because we want to bring awareness to the diseases that touch the lives of so many in our community. When you consider the patients themselves, their family members, their friends and their caregivers, you get a sense of how much of our population is impacted by cancer and diabetes,” said Lisa Bellot, AMI marketing coordinator.

“We as a leading health insurer feel it is our responsibility to encourage our community to have healthy, fit lifestyles as a way to help them combat these diseases. So we’re looking forward to everyone walking and running with us for their health and to support the health of our community.”

According to Ms Bellot, the dual-city event will feature routes for leisure walkers and runners and separate routes for competitive participants. Nassau routes begin and end at Montagu Beach while the Freeport event will use the Jasmine Corporate Centre. All participants will be entered to win a Caribbean cruise for two. Participants in the junior division will also be eligible to join an Instagram competition where they can win a prize based on the number of likes their fun run walk photo attracts during the event.

Ms Bellot said that AMI prides itself in creating a fun run walk that brings people from all ages together for a good cause and to enjoy a great morning with friends and family.
