Bernard ‘The Executioner’ Hopkins pays courtesy call on Minister of Education

BERNARD ‘The Executioner’ Hopkins, former world middleweight champion, recently paid a courtesy call on Minister of Education Jeff Lloyd.

The 54-year-old Hopkins, who himself was incarcerated for five years and learned to box in prison, reformed his life and became a very successful professional boxer and businessman.

Having competed from 1988 to 2016, Hopkins is one of the most successful boxers of the past three decades, having held multiple world championships in two weight classes, including the undisputed middleweight title from 2004 to 2005, and the lineal light heavyweight title from 2011 to 2012.

BoxRec has him ranked today as the eleventh greatest boxer of all time pound-for-pound after compiling an impressive 55-8-2 win-loss-draw record with 32 knockouts. He also had a pair of no contests on his ledger.

Now retired, Hopkins is a partner with Oscar De La Hoya in the global boxing company Golden Boy Promotions.

Hopkins spends his spare time speaking to challenged youth and while in Nassau is the guest of the Ministry of Education’s Sports Unit.

He is expected to attend a sitting of the House of Assembly today.
