Royann Dean is inspired by innovation

By LEANDRA ROLLE

With more and more creative people entering the business world, it’s important to have meaningful conversations that both inspire and educate professionals about the ins and outs. And no one knows this better than public relations consultant Royann Dean. That is why she teamed up with The Current at Baha Mar this year to present another series of “Inspired/By talks”.

Inspired/By talks is a one-hour series of conversations that focuses on topics related to design, business and creativity. It was created by Royann last year, who wanted to speak with intelligent professionals in the areas of design, business and creativity and give them the opportunity to share knowledge about their respective fields.

“I like to think of myself like a professional Venn diagram with main areas of interest – design, business and creativity. I am curious about those areas and I thought it would be great to speak with smart and interesting people who would have answers and could share what they know and what they are doing. It’s cool that other people are also curious and interested in the conversations as well,” she told Tribune Woman.

Last season, the inspirational series focused on topics related to entrepreneurship and women. However, this season, the inspirational series explored the theme of creative intelligence. In selecting this season’s guests, Royann chose local business leaders who recognised and supported initiatives that required creative intelligence as part of the business strategy.

Some of the guest speakers for this season included Gravette Brown, chief commercial officer at Aliv; Albert Wilson, a senior in the data and analytics department at KPMG, and Davina Blair, executive director at the Access Accelerator, Small Business Development Centre.

Royann told Tribune Woman that each panellist was able to speak about digital transformation and how it has impacted or can impact business growth and entrepreneurism.

Inspired/By talks will end its second season on March 20 with Gina Brooks as its final guest. Ms Brooks, who is a member of the International Association of Innovation Professionals, is currently the manager at the Innovation Centre for Bahamas First Holdings. She holds an undergraduate degree in Finance from the University of Central Florida and has received numerous certificates in innovation management and change management. These are just few of her many achievements.

She will be help bring the season to close by speaking to Royann about innovation.

“Innovation is one aspect of the overarching purpose of the talk – to have conversations at the interesting intersection of design, business and creativity so our conversation will touch on what interesting initiatives are happening at the Innovation Centre; what, if any, digital and data-driven components are involved and what that means for how we experience their products and services,” said Royann.

The Inspired/By talks podcast is expected to launch this summer. Although a date has not yet been set for the next season, Royann said that there are likely to be more discussions concerning the series’ next season in the future.
