NPBA PLAYOFFS: Commonwealth Bank Giants teams take 2-0 lead

THE Commonwealth Bank Giants continued their undefeated season with another win over the University of the Bahamas Mingoes and their junior team, Your Essential Store Giants, also won over the Triple K Stampers.

The two Giants teams have now taken a 2-0 lead in their respective division one and two semi-final playoffs being played at the AF Adderley Gymnasium. Game three of their series will be played on Friday night.

While Commonwealth Bank routed the University of the Bahamas 91-78 in the division one feature contest, Your Essential Store took advantage of Triple K with an 85-79 decision.

Giants 91, Mingoes 78

D’Shon Taylor exploded for a game high 31 points with seven rebounds, five assists, two block shots and a steal to lead a balanced attack for Commonwealth Bank.

Gameliel Rose had 15 points and nine rebounds, Michael Bain had 14 points, seven rebounds and two blocks, Jeffrey Henfield came off the bench with 14 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals and Jackson Jacob also came off the bench with 10 points. seven rebounds, three steals and two assists.

The University of the Bahamas got 30 points from Antwan Bevans, who also had six rebounds, four assists, two steals and as many blocks.

Romero Cornish was the only other player in double figures with 14 points off the bench.

Ramon Dames had eight points, nine rebounds, two assists and two blocks, Justin Smith came off the bench with eight points and four rebounds and Kemsy Sylvester, who missed game one, came off the bench with eight points as well, along with six rebounds and two blocks.

Adrian Thompson led three other players in double figures with 18 points, 16 rebounds, eight assists and four steals as Your Essential Store easily won game two.

Brandon Strachan had 17 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block, Michael Bethel came off the bench with 13 points, five rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block and Cormardo Seymour chipped in with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

For Triple K, Johnley Noel scored a game high 28 points with 10 rebounds, Michael Turnquest had 12 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, Troy Trembly came off the bench with 10 points, 21 rebounds and two blocks and Wilben Seraphin added nine points and five assists.
