THE Bahamas Karate Association (BKA) hosted a successful referee course and technical seminar in New Providence March 23-24.

Senior international instructors shihan Joseph Boca and shihan Darryl Williams taught the clinics.

Shihan (master teacher) Boca introduced the Japanese style of Kyokushin karate to the Bahamas instructors and was well received.

Instructors may contact shihan Boca at telcoboca@hotmail.com

Shihan Williams taught a referee course using the rules of the World United Karate Organisation (WUKO) and Shito-Ryu karate, another Japanese style which is taught in the Bahamas by shihan Julian Rolle, Marcus Rolle and Shawn Smith Sr.

Styles that were represented are Shotokan, Shito-Ryu, Taekwondo, Kung-Fu, Jujitsu and Goju-Ryu.

“We wish to thank Julian Rolle for his guidance as BKA president,” according to the BKA in a press release.

“All are now looking towards the Panamerica United Karate Organisation (PUKO) Tournament in Nassau in June.”
