Beware of life in the fast lane

By MINISTER KEITH EVANS

True biblical Christianity at it’s finest is the real deal, and offers what no other worldview offers: an empty tomb. Mohammed is dead! So much for Islam. Siddhartha Gautama is dead! So much for Buddhism. Confucius is dead! So much for the adherents of Confucius. But Jesus is alive!

To my Bahamian brothers out there packing guns and committing these violent crimes, I say: cease and desist. Put down the guns; pick up the Bible. Wake up Bahamas!

God promised His people threescore years and ten. But if you check the obituary section, that you’re probably reading along with this article, you’ll see people in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and only a few in their 70s or 80s. You’ll probably see some in their teens, too. Yes, some are there because of illness, but any are there because of violence.

Look, the mistakes that our great-grandparents and grandparents made 40 and 50 years ago we just can’t afford to make today. Get into a fight 50 years ago with someone and it was just a fist fight. Today, people are pulling out high-powered rifles, and you’d better leave the country with you get in trouble with the wrong people. These young whippersnappers carry old grudges to their grave nowadays. Lord, what a time?

This is what I call the fast lane generation. I love my young people, but we need to realise that we’re killing ourselves. We are living in a culture that is rife with dissonance and upheaval. Now, we have some good young people out there; not all are lost and misguided.

But in general, we’re living the fast life and so we’re dying the fast death! Some 950 homicides between 2011 and 2018 is preposterous! We need God. Put down the guns and pick up God’s word, the Bible, my young brother. It ain’t worth it! Listen, if you need someone to talk it over, message me at keithevans242@gmail.com. I’ll pray with you.

God has a plan for your life, my brothers. Let me show y’all where we’re at in the prophetic Scripture time frame. Proverbs 30:11: “There is a generation that curses its father, and does not bless its mother.” That sounds like us, right? Just maybe that’s why we’re dying so young. Proverbs 30:12 says: “There is a generation that is pure in its own eyes, yet is not washed from its filthiness.” Again, that sounds eerily like our attitude today when God blesses us; we have the propensity of looking down on our fellow man – very unscrupulous and unholy, indeed.

Watch this one here, Proverbs 30:13: “There is a generation – oh, how lofty are their eyes! And their eyelids are lifted up.” Pride, pride and more pride!. Then we come to the senseless killings here in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. Proverbs 30:14: “There is a generation whose teeth are like swords, and whose fangs are like knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.”

Stop the violence! We’re committing self-inflicted genocide. This is a call for the daughters of Zion, or the Church, to hit the streets full throttle in Jesus’ mighty name. We are too enamoured with just having church. Why not be a church like exemplified in the book of Acts, where they acted upon the Great Commission to reach the lost? Let’s emerge from outside the four walls and take over the streets, preaching a Gospel of healing and deliverance. Our young people’s lives are in the balance here. Too many are going to prison. Too many are being murdered. We need to slow down and get out of life’s fast lane. God is holding us accountable to get it right. Coming from a no-nonsense preacher, wake up Bahamas!
