A star-studded concert experience featuring both international and local talent will attempt to breathe new life into the Bahamian gospel music scene.

The Fresh Wind Experience concert, to be held this Saturday, will be headlined by the Grammy nominated and Stellar and Billboard Award-winning Koryn Hawthorne, who at age 17 was a finalist in season eight of NBC’s singing competition “The Voice”. Since then, she has had such smash hits as “Won’t He Do It”, “Unstoppable” and “Speak the Name.”

The event will take place at the Life Empowerment Church, John F Kennedy Drive, beginning at 6.30pm. It will also feature a host of Bahamian gospel sensations, including Thea V, Shaniqua Thurston, V-Mac, NU Voice, Davian Chase, E-Man, and Johnny B. The evening will be hosted by Felicia “Da Firestarter” Archer and additional music will be provided by DJ Godson.

Felicia said concert-goers can look forward to a night of praise, worship and entertainment. For this event, Humble Child Entertainment is partnering with Galilee College, which will be awarding a cadre of academic scholarships for programmes ranging from diploma to bachelor’s degree studies.

“Additional giveaways will also take place throughout the night. Needless to say, the event is set out to be a life-changing one as we seek to shift the paradigm of entertainment with this fresh wind of gospel worship,” said Felicia.

Humble Child Entertainment CEO Rev Joel Johnson said there is a need for this type of event in the Bahamas, as many artists’ talents that do not align with “the fruit of Christianity”. He believes the Fresh Wind Experience will teach what the nation needs at this time.

When speaking of the team’s choice to feature Koryn Hawthorne as the show’s headliner, Mr Johnson said: “We chose Koryn Hawthorne particularly because of her Christian courage and charisma. More importantly, to connect with her music that reminds the disheartened that God is a promise-keeping God.”

Admission for the concert is $10 and tickets can be purchased at Galilee College on Joe Farrington Road or by calling 802-4301 or 467-1936.
