Bahamas Bowl organisers donating $75,000 to Dorian relief

THE organisers behind the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl are donating $75,000 to Hurricane Dorian relief efforts.

The Bahamas will host the sixth annual Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl on December 20 at the Thomas A Robinson National Stadium - and those behind the event wanted to play their part in helping the country that has hosted the longest-running international bowl game.

Each of the Most Wanted Bahamas Bowl’s participating conferences - Conference USA and the mid-American Conference - have each made donations of $25,000, and an additional $25,000 has been donated from a neighbouring bowl game in Miami, the Capital One Orange Bowl.

The donations were announced at a press conference in Nassau, and will be sent to the Bahamas Red Cross. “Over the last five years, our bowl partners Conference USA and the Mid-American Conference and their student-athletes and staff who have joined us here, have come away from the experience with great memories and an appreciation of what makes The Bahamas so special,” said Richard Giannini, Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl’s executive director.

“With the devastation brought by Hurricane Dorian, both C-USA and the MAC wanted to give back to The Bahamas, and our friends in Miami at the Capital One Orange Bowl also wanted to be part of this joint effort to assist those in need through the Bahamas Red Cross. On behalf of everyone at the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl, we want to thank all of them for contributing in a significant way.”
