NPBA: Shockers knock off Great Whites, High Flyers get 83-81 win over Rockets

THE New Providence Basketball Association continued its regular-season action on Monday night with the JD’s Seafood Shockers knocking off the BIBT Great Whites 86-66 and the Breezes High Flyers prevailed with an 83-81 triumph over the Sun Oil Rockets.

• Here’s a summary of the two games played at the AF Adderley Gymnasium:

Shockers 86,

Great Whites 66

William Rigby canned 16 points, shooting 4-for-26 from the field, 1-for-8 from the three-point line and 7-for-10 from the free-throw line in 29 minutes and 19 seconds to lead JD’s Seafood to victory.

He also had eight rebounds and four steals as the Shockers rebounded to win their first game after losing their season opener.

Three other players scored in double figures with Lenny Oscar contributing 13 points with nine rebounds, four assists and three steals, Lamont Armaly had 12 points, four assists and two rebounds and Brian Jennings added 11 points, nine rebounds and two steals.

Nathan Sullivan scored a game-high 17 points on 6-for-17 from the field, 2-for-10 from the three-point line and 3-for-4 from the foul line with five steals, three assists and two block shots to lead BIBT, who played their first game this season.

Charles Ferguson had 16 points and 10 rebounds, Deltino Thurston had seven points, five rebounds and two steals and Jason Collie chipped in with seven points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals.

High Flyers 83,

Rockets 81

Shaquille Outten pumped in a game-high 21 points, shooting 9-for-20 from the field and 3-for-7 from the three-point line in 29:58 minutes with four rebounds, three steals and two assists to lead Breezes to their season-opening victory.

Troy Tremley had 16 points, 15 rebounds and five block shots, Jamaal Simon added 15 points with seven rebounds, three steals and two assists, Herbert Knowles had eight points, three rebounds and three assists and Paco Estime helped out with eight points and six rebounds.

For Sun Oil, Crosley Wilmore shot 5-for-10 from the field, was 4-for-5 from behind the three-point arc and 3-for-7 from the charity stripe in 27:46 with five rebounds in a losing effort.

Bertrum Minns had 15 points, three rebounds and three assists, Lerecus Armbrister had 10 points, three assists and two steals, Collin Storr had nine points and 11 rebounds with three blocks and two steals, Anthon Williams had eight points and three rebounds and Nathaniel Jean finished with six points and three assists.

The Rockets dropped to 1-1 in the standings.
