WHILE they will resume their regular season next week, the New Providence Softball Association will join in the restoration of Abaco and Grand Bahama by holding a Relief Day on Saturday in the Banker’s Field at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex.

From 8am and 1pm, league president Desiree Taylor said they will be accepting donations of all kinds from persons who want to assist.

Taylor said they feel it’s the right thing to do because they concentrate on the remainder of their season. “Due to the passing of the hurricane, we don’t want to rush back,” Taylor said. “We won’t start playing again until next Tuesday. We have some teams that have a few games to play to complete the season and then we will go into the playoffs. “We’re taking all donations at this time. We don’t want to limit people to anything. Whatever they have, they can bring it to the park, we will package it and passed it on to the authorities for the people in Abaco and Grand Bahama, We just want to make our contribution.”

And as they prepare for the completion of their season, Taylor said the playoff picture is just about set between the four teams. led by the CS Enterprise Hitmen, who are currently leading the standings at 12-1.

With all of the teams have a total of 15 games to complete the season, the Hitmen have already clinched the pennant and will end up playing the hapless Regulators, who are 0-12. The second and third places will be decided between the Chances Mighty Mitts (8-6( and the Commando Security Trucklers (6-7).

There are six teams entered in the ladies’ division and a two-way battle between the Brsckettes and the defending champions Sunshine Auto Wildscays, both at 12-2 with three more games left.

The Inventive Intellect Lady Warriors (8-4) and the University of the Bahamas Lady Mingoes (5-8) occupy the third and fourth spots. The Lady Truckers (3-11) and the first year Strikers (0-13) are automatically eliminated from the postseason.

“I think the rest of the season is shaping up to be an exciting one,” Taylor said. “The ladies are tightly knitted going into the playoffs. We expect the same thing in the men’s division. So we should have a very exciting playoff series.”
