Plane in emergency diversion

A JetBlue aircraft made an emergency diversion to Lynden Pindling International Airport yesterday due to mechanical concerns with the aircraft.

JetBlue flight 1706 was travelling from Punta Caucedo, Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic and headed to Orlando, Florida when it was diverted to Nassau.

The aircraft landed safely at LPIA and passengers were deplaned by chute, LPIA posted on its Facebook page.

There were 176 people on board with six crew members. No major injuries were reported. The airport remains open with normal operations.

After the incident, Passengers were being accommodated in the holding room of LPIA’s international terminal as they awaited a new aircraft to continue their flight on to Orlando. That flight was expected to depart at 3.30pm yesterday.
