CHRIS Ferguson and Elijah Lowe reclaimed spots in the win column with their teams this week in NCAA Division I Football.

Ferguson shifted to left tackle on the offensive line and the Bearcats won 35-13 over the Miami of Ohio Redhawks.

Ferguson sported a decal of the Bahamian flag at the back of his helmet for the duration of the contest. They improved to 2-1 after they suffered a 42-0 loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes last week and were scoreless against the RedHawks after the first quarter, falling behind 10-0.

"Wins are not easy to come by," Bearcats head coach Luke Fickell said.

"The final score doesn't look like it, like it was for sure in the first half. You have to enjoy this especially in a rivalry week. Coming off of what happened to us last week, we were a little shook sometimes and it showed in the first half."

Ferguson was also one of the Bearcats captains for the afternoon and led an offensive line that paved the way for the Bearcats to outgain the RedHawks 420-207 in total yardage.

The Bearcats will be on the road next week for a September 28 game at Marshall.

Lowe and the Citadel Bulldogs scored a major upset over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 27-24 in overtime.

The FCS Bulldogs recorded their ninth win all time against an FBS opponent.

The senior tight end got the start against the Yellow Jackets and was key in the Bulldogs' run heavy scheme which gained 320 yards on the ground.

An Abaco native, Lowe's personal story of being affected by Hurricane Dorian was documented in the Post and Courier Journal.

"It's devastating. It broke my heart, because I really love my country. I have dual citizenship in the US, but I consider the Bahamas my home and it breaks my heart to see it like that." Lowe said "

We have a culture down there like no other," Elijah said. "It's strong and beautiful, with all different types of people. And we love each other like family."

He has played at least 20 snaps in each of the Bulldogs' three games this season at his new position on the offensive side of the ball.

"He really came to us out of nowhere," said Citadel coach Brent Thompson.

"He showed up one day wanting to walk on. He was a big guy, so we started him on the defensive line.

"I told him we'd need a tight end this year, so we brought him over."
