Osadebay was light in legal world

EDITOR, The Tribune.

I remember Emmanuel Osadebay well now. He was a stern disciplinarian; he was the kind when he stamped you said “how high”. He was a real disciplinarian.

I remember my father the late Anthony Longford Bastian sitting up late at night with his contract law text.

My mother who had just a basic 6th grade education read to him late at nights.

He would arrive at work early in the morning to read over his files in the prosecutor’s court. Osadebay a highly qualified judge who served the country well – par excellence.

Although Emmanuel was not a Bahamian by birth; he used his legal skills and talents for the good of the entire Bahamas.

Particularly in the area of labour laws; he had a genius for legality; a sense of humour which made him down to earth.

During his retirement he supplied the Eugene Dupuch Law School with his talent and patience and many sat at his feet to bask in his legal knowledge and experiences.

I, Loxsley Lonford Bastian, wish to extend sincerest condolences to his widow, Dr Emily Maybelline Osadebay, other family members and friends my sincerest sympathy and assure them that our prayers are with them at this time of mourning and bereavement. May his soul rest in perpetual peace.
