Abject apology

EDITOR, The Tribune.

I recently read in a newspaper (not The Tribune) an account of conditions in the storm shelter at the old Bahamas Academy gym.

One of the storm refugees, a gentleman who said he was there with his girlfriend, is quoted as saying, “The way we are living, socially, it’s not really how it’s supposed to be.”

The report went on to cite other complaints including how people had to hang their washing out to dry where other people could see it.

Permit me, please, on behalf of the donors and volunteers, to abjectly apologise to this gentleman, his girlfriend and any others whose expectations at the shelter were not met.

I apologise that conditions at the shelter were not conducive to ideal social living.

I apologise that there was no laundry service or washing machines at the shelter.

I apologise for any other inconvenience that the gentleman, his girlfriend and the others had to endure.

You see, there was this catastrophic hurricane and thousands of people… But the gentleman, his girlfriend and the others must know about that.

I am still …
