PRIME Minister Dr Hubert Minnis was presented with a $100,000 donation to assist with Hurricane Dorian recovery and reconstruction efforts from Micronesia, a small nation in the western Pacific with a population of just over 100,000.

Dr Minnis received the cheque on Friday, September 27 from the president of Micronesia, David W Panuelo, following Dr Minnis’ address to the General Assembly at the United Nations.

Dr Minnis thanked President Panuelo for the small country’s generous donation to the people of The Bahamas in their time of need.

“This donation means a lot to the people of The Bahamas. You are a small country and your willingness to help is greatly appreciated.

“Your donation will help us to rebuild better and stronger than before. I thank you and the people of Micronesia,” said Dr Minnis.

This is a large donation relative to the small size of Micronesia as a nation. It's of course deeply appreciated.
