A MAN and woman were arraigned in court yesterday on six firearm and ammunition charges.

Goshon Fox, 22, and Marvinique Burrows, 20, appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt charged with two counts of importing firearms and another two counts of importing ammunition.

The two were also charged with conspiracy to import firearms into the country and violating the national curfew.

Both defendants denied all of the charges and the matter was adjourned to November 10-12 for trial.

It is alleged Fox and Burrows imported one chrome Black Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol on March 27, without having a licence to possess the weapon.

It is further alleged the defendants imported one chrome Black Smith & Wesson .45 pistol on that same day.

Fox and Burrows were also accused of importing 16 live rounds of ammunition and another five live rounds of ammunition for the .45 pistol.

The defendants were further charged with conspiring together to commit the offences and for violating the national curfew by being in the area of Jet Aviation during curfew hours.

Fox and Burrows were represented by Damian Gomez, QC, and attorney Donna Major respectively.

During the arraignment, Mr Gomez told the judge that the attorneys had prepared emergency bail applications and requested both defendants be remanded to the Central Police Station.

Magistrate Ferguson-Pratt granted the lawyers’ request, however she reminded them that if their clients’ applications were not heard, both Fox and Burrows would be remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services (BDCS).
